PROTECHMED: PROmoting innovative solutions for the TECHnological Transition of the MEDiterranean horticultural sector (https://www.svimed.eu/website/en/portfolio/protechmed/)
PROTECHMED seeks to establish an enabling ecosystem for co-designing and testing five eco-innovative solutions for horticultural greenhouses.
These solutions support the digital and innovation transition of the sector, with a strong focus on water and energy conservation. The project brings together stakeholders from Greece, Italy, Malta, Tunisia, Lebanon and Türkiye to bridge the gap between research and agricultural companies and promote more efficient and sustainable greenhouse production.
The project will develop and test smart technologies, including photovoltaic systems and a Decision Support System, provide training for technicians, and develop a roadmap for a more sustainable business model for greenhouse food production. PROTECHMED is 89% funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
Project Duration: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2028 Total Project Budget: €2,312,661 EU/Programme contribution: 89%
