About
The Mycotoxins Laboratory was established in the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute at Tal Amara station since 2010, with the aim of highlighting the importance of subjecting all food and feedstuffs exposed to the risk of contamination with mycotoxins for laboratory analysis in order to protect the consumer and maintain public health.
Mycotoxins tested in the laboratory:
- Aflatoxins- Aflatoxin B1
- Aflatoxin M1
- Ochratoxin A
- Deoxynivalenol
- Zearalenone
Methods of analysis:
The level of mycotoxins in food and feed is determined by ELISA method and soon by HPLC method.
The employees of the mycotoxins laboratory at Tal Amara station always collect food and feed samples from markets and test the level of mycotoxins in these samples (recently, analysis of aflatoxins in Wheat Flour and Thyme Mixes samples).
Yearly, the laboratory participates to the APTECA proficiency tests program for two rounds, and it succeeds with a satisfactory result.
