Days 1–3 in Ragusa, Sicily – Inception Camp
As part of the PROTEMED Project, we had the pleasure of participating in three intensive and productive days in Ragusa, Sicily, during the Inception Camp organized by SVI.MED in cooperation with the University of Catania, bringing together partners and stakeholders from across the Mediterranean.
The Lebanese delegation was represented by Project Coordinator Randa Massaad, Communication Manager Ahmad Elbitar, Technical Manager Linda Kfoury, along with stakeholders who presented their Best Management Practices (BMPs): Ziad Farhat, Omar Jaroush, Maya Moussawi, Georges Maalouf, Tarek Daoud, and Riwa Mayta.
, engaged in valuable discussions, technical visits, B2B meetings, and working sessions focused on sharing knowledge and exploring future pilot actions.
A key highlight was visiting innovative agricultural systems, including MONCADA’s aeroponic tomato greenhouse, hydroponic and organic farming sites, advanced sensing technologies, and agrovoltaic solutions that combine agriculture with renewable energy.
These exchanges reinforced the importance of cooperation, innovation, and shared learning in building a more sustainable and resilient future for Mediterranean agriculture.
